What Is Electro-Acupuncture?

Electro-acupuncture is a variation of traditional acupuncture in which a small electrical current is passed between selected acupuncture needles.

After the needles have been inserted, small clips are attached to them and connected to an electro-acupuncture device. The frequency and intensity of the stimulation can be adjusted according to the individual and the purpose of the session.

What Happens During a Session?

After the acupuncture needles are positioned, selected needles are connected to the electro-acupuncture device.

A controlled electrical pulse creates gentle, repeated stimulation between the needles. The intensity is adjusted gradually and should remain within a comfortable level for the person receiving the treatment.

The intensity and frequency of the impulse can be increased or decreased depending on the condition which is being treated. Two needles are used at a time which enables the impulses to pass from needle to needle.

The electrical stimulation is applied for a selected period before the needles are removed.
